Mercedes-Benz of Raleigh is preparing for one of this season’s most exciting releases, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. Working off of the new naming schema introduced in the last year, the GLC-Class takes the place of the outgoing GLK-Class crossover. This update aligns the GLC-Class SUV with the C-Class sedan, fitting in as the mid-size luxury SUV offering from Mercedes-Benz.
Design
If you’re expecting a mere refresh of the GLK-Class here, you need to recalibrate your expectations. The GLC-Class is leaner in every way, engineered in the wind tunnel and honed to perfection on the track. Sporting a long wheelbase, large wheels, and a wide stance, this car is designed with superior stability in mind.
Inside, passengers will enjoy the sort of comfort that Mercedes-Benz has made its name on. Crafted with fine materials and stitching, and arranged for optimum spaciousness and versatility, the GLC-Class is the perfect mix of style and substance. Rear seats fold down in a 40/20/40 split, and the rear liftgate is powered as a standard feature.
Performance
The GLC-Class is truly impressive as a feat of engineering. Customers will find this vehicle standard with rear-wheel drive and available with Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC® All-Wheel Drive. It is powered by a 241 horsepower, 273 lb-ft torque turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, renowned for a balanced distribution of efficiency and power. Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and equipped with an ECO Start/Stop function, you’ll be impressed by how far one tank of gas takes you.
The drivers among you will be especially pleased by the GLC-Class’s DYNAMIC SELECT feature, which lets you choose between five different driving modes depending on your needs. Toggle between ECO, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Invididual, and the vehicle will adjust its shift points, steering, and throttle response accordingly. For the suspension, selective damping is standard on this model, while air suspension is an available class-exclusive feature.
Technology
Mercedes-Benz takes mbrace® connectivity to the next level with the GLC-Class. Using the smart phone app, you can remote-start your car and check on key diagnostics. Wi-Fi and audio streaming are available, as well as a wide selection of in-car apps.
Other available systems can help with everything from your driving experience to vehicle safety, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation and warning, lane-keeping assistance, parking assistance, head-up display, and much more.
