In today’s category of cars that aren’t messing around, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG® 4MATIC® Coupe is poised to debut at the New York International Auto Show. This is the kind of car that the bad guys would chase Jason Bourne or James Bond in around Europe. It has an astonishing 4,000 lbs. of weight despite employing the usual ultra-light measures: carbon ceramic brakes, light alloy wheels and a front end crafted wholly from aluminum.
We might hazard a guess that some weight could be found in the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, 4MATIC® all-wheel drive and Speedshift transmission, as well as the air suspension. This is a car that aims to provide maximum performance, handling, grip and comfort, all at the same time. That it likely does very well, though at the Shylockian cost of pounds in metal.
