Mercedes-Benz Drops Knowledge on 2015 C-Class

Mercedes-Benz released a plethora of information today about the 2015 C-Class, and the consensus around the Internet is that the already stellar model will receive many attractive upgrades.

The C-Class is Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling model in the U.S. For that reason, it makes sense that MB wants its most visible vehicle to look, feel, sound—and even smell—fantastic.

Many auto writers this morning will note how the new C-Class has many of the S-Class’s external styling features, as well as its internal technology. This includes optional “active fragrancing,” which subtly introduces a modicum of perfume into the ventilation system.

Other features like intelligent LED head lamps which adjust to the road ahead, and automatic braking for perpendicular traffic, are meant to give the C-Class many of the more upscale features that should technically be outside of its price point.

That price has not been announced yet for the U.S., but most writers expect it to remain in line with last year’s.

One thing you will see less of in the 2015 C-Class is fuel use. Mercedes-Benz says that it has reduced fuel use by 20 percent, mainly thanks to an increase in aluminum—50 percent overall instead of last year’s 10 percent. But don’t let that suggest that safety is any less of a priority; the body has been equipped with ultra-high strength materials to keep passengers protected.

Also new will be air suspension as an option on the front and rear axles. This should allow for a smoother ride overall.

The 2015 C-Class will officially debut in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Next fall is the time period for ordering, so until then, stop by Leith, Inc. Authorized Mercedes-Benz Sales and Service to learn more.
