July 4th Celebrations

The outdoors will be filled with laughter and the sky will be lit up with an assortment of colors during the multiple July 4th celebrations taking over the Triangle area. From Raleigh and Wake Forest to Cary and Clayton, there is something for everyone to enjoy Independence Day. If you’re looking to get out of the house and celebrate with others, take your pick! You’re sure to have a good old time wherever you go.

In downtown Raleigh is the Independence Day Celebration at the North Carolina State Capitol which is located on Edenton Street. This free event takes place Wednesday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is a great choice for all ages. There will be music, children’s activities, food and more. It looks like the weather will be a little bit cooler than the extreme heat we’ve had lately, so this would be a great time to get out and enjoy the 4th!

If you’re looking to head out after the sun sets and take in fireworks, there are plenty of options to choose from. The city of Raleigh’s annual fireworks on July 4 has moved from its downtown location to the fairgrounds area. Parking opens at 6 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9:32 p.m. Brier Creek is hosting its 12th annual fireworks show Wednesday, July 4, starting at 7 p.m. Just outside of Raleigh lots of fireworks shows are happening, including the Rolesville 4th of July starting at 4:30 p.m. featuring a parade to kick off the event, the town of Clayton Independence Day Celebration from 4-10 p.m. and the July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheatre 3-10 p.m., just to name a few.

Some Independence Day festivities are happening early. The town of Wake Forest actually has a two-day event filled with loads of free fun! On Tuesday, July 3, is the Fireworks Spectacular at Heritage High School. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, July 4, a children’s parade starting at 10:30 a.m. will kick off the day’s activities.
