AMG® & AMG® sounds like a German version of Jane Austen. In reality, it signals that there will now be two versions of AMG® for some Mercedes-Benz models. At the Detroit Auto Show this week, the C450 AMG® 4MATIC® serves as our introduction to a slightly more manageable version of AMG® for the C-Class.
For example, the Mercedes-AMG C63 has a twin-turbo V8 that would cry out against Target trips and the occasional Cheesecake Factory foray. The C450’s twin-turbo V6, on the other hand, lets you approach sub-400 levels of horsepower and torque without swinging by traffic court on an intimate basis.
If you remember from our review of the new C-Class, sport mode on the C300 is already a lot of fun. The C450 lets you gear up on a higher level on a daily basis, all without making you go full-Hulk every time some Honda Accord pulls up alongside.
Look for the C450 AMG® 4MATIC® in the fall.
